- Pack sizes to match your adapter: a 10-pack for the Metz 60 CT (10 cells per adapter), a 12-pack for the Pentax 645 or Fuji GX680 (two full sets of 6), a 14-pack for 2x Metz 76 MZ battery baskets, and a 20-pack as a bulk supply with spares.
- Fast flash recycling: Varta specifies an internal resistance of 35 mΩ (measured at 1 kHz) for the Recharge Accu Power 2600, less than half that of cells in the budget high-capacity class (we measured Camelion 2700 at 84 mΩ). Your flash is ready again sooner, and motors get their current peaks without the voltage sagging.
- Factory-charged, low self-discharge: The cells arrive pre-charged and, according to the manufacturer, still hold around two thirds of their charge after a year in storage. Just load them and go, even after months in the cupboard.
- No more restocking alkalines: One investment, hundreds of charge cycles: disposable batteries are banished from the studio.
Safety instructions
- Never charge them in the camera’s original vintage charger. The old charging circuits weren’t designed for NiMH batteries and can destroy the cells or the adapter. Charge them externally in a suitable NiMH charger, such as our 12-slot charger for AA and AAA.

Description
Description
In 2026 we switched our AA rechargeables over to Varta. With flashes like the Metz 45 or 60, it’s the internal resistance that decides how quickly the flash recycles, not the capacity: we measured Eneloop Pro at 18 mΩ and Camelion 2700 at 84 mΩ. For the Varta Recharge Accu Power 2600, the manufacturer specifies 35 mΩ at 1 kHz. That’s not quite top of the range, but a long way from the budget cells, and at a fraction of what Eneloop Pro costs. The 2600 mAh rating, rather than 2800, is an honest one: independent tests measure around 2550 mAh at 0.2 A, while budget high-capacity cells often fall 10 to 14 percent short of what’s printed on them. The cells arrive pre-charged and are ready to use straight away.
