Varta AA Battery NiMH 2600 mAh rechargeable, 10-pack to 20-pack

• Pack size matched to the adapter: 10-pack for the Metz 60 CT (10 cells per adapter), 12-pack for Pentax 645 or Fuji GX680 (two complete sets of 6), 14-pack for 2x Metz 76 MZ battery holders, 20-pack as a bulk pack with reserve.
• Short flash recycle times: Varta states an internal resistance of 35 mΩ (measured at 1 kHz) for the Recharge Accu Power 2600, less than half that of cells in the cheap high-capacity class (we measured Camelion 2700 at 84 mΩ). The flash is ready again faster, and motors get their current peaks without voltage drops.
• Charged at the factory, low self-discharge: The cells arrive pre-charged and, according to the manufacturer, still hold around two thirds of their charge after a year of storage. Insert and go, even after months in the cupboard.
• No more alkaline restocking: One investment, hundreds of charge cycles: disposable batteries are out of the studio.

Safety instructions

• Never charge in the camera's original vintage charger. The old charging circuits are not designed for NiMH rechargeable batteries and can destroy cells or adapters. Charge externally in a suitable NiMH charger, such as our 12-slot charger for AA and AAA.

Description

We switched our AA rechargeable batteries to Varta in 2026. With flashes like the Metz 45 or 60, it's the internal resistance that determines the recycle time, not the capacity: we measured Eneloop Pro at 18 mΩ, Camelion 2700 at 84 mΩ. For the Varta Recharge Accu Power 2600, the manufacturer states 35 mΩ at 1 kHz. That's not quite the top, but a long way from the cheap class, and at a fraction of the Eneloop Pro price. The 2600 instead of 2800 mAh printed on them is honest, too: independent tests measure around 2550 mAh at 0.2 A, while cheap high-capacity cells often stay 10 to 14 percent below their rating. The cells arrive pre-charged and are ready to use straight away.
