  • Replacement for the obsolete PX640: adapts a standard zinc-air cell type 675 (PR44) to the PX640 format.
  • Keeps the voltage constant: zinc-air cells chemically provide a stable approx. 1.4V instead of the initially too high, decreasing 1.5V of alkaline batteries.
  • Correct exposure without recalibration: the 1.4V is close enough to the original 1.35V for the light meter to measure correctly.

Description

Many classic cameras like the Minolta Hi-Matic E or the Olympus 35 EC were designed for the constant 1.35V voltage of the mercury battery PX640. These batteries are no longer available. The adapter adapts a standard 675 zinc-air cell to the PX640 housing format.

Zinc-air cells maintain their voltage steadily at about 1.4V over the discharge curve. This is close enough to the original 1.35V to operate the light meter of most cameras correctly without recalibration. Alkaline replacement batteries with an initial voltage of 1.5V and steadily decreasing voltage cause measurement errors. The adapter itself is purely mechanical and conducts the current directly.
