Description
As a professional system camera, the Minolta XM (or XK) has a modular design, and that is exactly what creates a weak spot: as soon as you remove the viewfinder, the delicate focusing screen is left exposed and unprotected. The focusing screen cover snaps into place instead of the viewfinder and protects the inside of the camera.
The viewfinder cover is a classic eyepiece shutter. During long exposures on a tripod, when your eye is not at the viewfinder, stray light can interfere with the XM's exposure metering. The clip solves this.
