  • Eyepiece cover against stray light: The viewfinder cover prevents light from entering through the eyepiece during long exposures on a tripod, which could otherwise distort the exposure metering.

Description

The Minolta XM (or XK) is built as a professional modular system camera – which creates a weak point: as soon as you remove the viewfinder, the delicate focusing screen is left unprotected and exposed. The focusing screen cover clicks into place instead of the viewfinder and protects the inside of the camera.

The viewfinder cover is a classic eyepiece cap. During long exposures on a tripod, when your eye is not at the viewfinder, stray light can confuse the XM’s exposure metering – the clip provides a solution.
