Description
The coupling prong, known in Nikon jargon as “Hasenohren” in German, “Rabbit Ears” or “Bunny Ears” in English, and officially called the Meter Coupling Prong, mechanically couples the set aperture on early Nikkor lenses (Pre-AI / Non-AI) to the meter pin of the Photomic finder. If it is missing, the finder of a Nikon F (Photomic), F2 (Photomic) or Nikkormat can no longer read the aperture correctly.
The part is designed purely for metering: reliable function without play and without any risk of damaging the lens, so your vintage camera correctly reads the set aperture again.
