Description

The coupling fork, known in Nikon jargon as "rabbit ears" or Meter Coupling Prong, mechanically couples the set aperture on early Nikkor lenses (Pre-AI / Non-AI) to the exposure meter pin of the Photomic viewfinder. If it is missing, the viewfinder of a Nikon F (Photomic), F2 (Photomic), or Nikkormat no longer correctly recognizes the aperture.

This part is purely functional for exposure metering: secure operation without play and without risk of damaging the lens, so your vintage camera correctly recognizes the set aperture again.
