- M42 lenses on your Nikonos: fits the Nikonos V, III and IV-A; see Compatibility for the full list.
- Focusing: Since Nikonos cameras have no rangefinder, you have to estimate the distance (zone focusing). With fast M42 lenses, the shallow depth of field often leads to missed focus.
- Caution, loss of diving capability: With the adapter, the system loses its pressure resistance. M42 lenses are not waterproof, so moisture can get inside through the focus ring.
- Viewfinder: The internal viewfinder is designed for 35mm. With other focal lengths, the framing no longer matches, which makes an external accessory viewfinder necessary.
Note
This adapter is designed exclusively for use on land or as splash protection. It is not suitable for diving and is not pressure resistant.

With this adapter, you can use classic M42 lenses on your Nikonos body. It lets you use affordable third-party lenses for photography on land without having to rely on the special and expensive Nikkor UW lenses. The sturdy construction ensures a secure fit on the bayonet.
