- Protection for the selenium cells: Prevents the light meter from burning out and aging due to constant exposure to light.
- Longer life for the metering system: Selenium cells lose sensitivity under constant exposure; when covered, the metering stays accurate for longer.
- Sits in front of the sensor: Closes off precisely in front of the metering cell and follows the contours of the Canon 7.
- Enhances the look of the camera: Blends into the front of the Canon 7, giving a clean finish even if the metering cell is long since worn out.

Description
The Canon 7 is a rangefinder camera with a Leica screw mount and a built-in selenium-based light meter. Selenium cells change chemically and lose sensitivity when they are constantly exposed to light, even on a shelf.
This cover shields the light meter when you are not using the camera. This keeps the metering system protected and the exposure readings accurate for longer.

Canon 7 Meter cover
What a great idea! The Canon 7 rangefinder is an excellent camera, but most of the meters have long since expired. Ausgeknipst produces a meter cover that fits great and improves the appearance of the Canon 7. If you are lucky enough to have a Canon 7 that has a working meter, then the Ausgeknipst meter cover does a good job protecting the meter. Price is very reasonable. Thank you, Ausgeknipst!

Support a young startup
You want innovative solutions instead of mass-produced goods? With us, you don’t buy from an anonymous wholesaler, but directly from the founders. We (Anto & Vladi) started our startup in 2019 in Würzburg to help you revive analog photography.
Developed by engineers
Designed in Würzburg
We don’t sell anything we wouldn’t use ourselves. We are engineers and camera nerds, and we know that precision is especially important in camera technology. That’s why we design our parts ourselves in Würzburg, and we print and assemble most of them here too. Batteries and rechargeables come from other manufacturers, for example Varta.
