  • Fresh standard film instead of eBay leftovers: Kodak Gold, Ilford HP5, Portra 400, or Tri-X – cut to 9.2 mm with a film slitter and loaded yourself, instead of increasingly rare old stock (often expired film there).
  • Four fills from one 35mm roll: One 35mm roll is enough for up to four cassette fillings – you only pay the film price instead of €30–50 for an old original cassette.
  • As light-tight as the original: Confirmed by customers in practical use – no light leaks when changing film in dim light.
  • Clean, scratch-free negatives: In independent tests and customer use, even frame spacing, smooth film transport, no scratches.
  • Storage case included: Light-tight – holds the cassette immediately after removal.

Safety Instructions

Special care is required with highly sensitive films (ISO 800+), e.g., Delta 3200 or P3200 – these films are more sensitive to stray light.

Compatibility

  • Minox A, B, BL, C, EC – fully compatible
  • Minox LX, TLX, CLX, MX – fully compatible (cassette supports automatic frame counter reset)
  • Sharan – compatible
  • Ataron – compatible
  • VEF Riga – Not recommended. The cassette can be inserted with pressure, but removal is problematic – attached lids may remain in the camera. Depends on the individual camera condition.

Description

Getting fresh film for your Minox EC, B, or another Minox 8x11 is becoming increasingly difficult: original new-old-stock film is getting rarer and more expensive, and on eBay you often only find expired leftovers. With this 4-part cassette, you cut any fresh 35mm or 120 film to 9.2 mm width with a suitable film slitter and load it yourself – Kodak Gold, Ilford HP5, or whatever you want.

The cassette holds a maximum of 36 exposures. Do not try to load longer films (e.g., 50 exposures) – the mechanical tolerances of Minox cameras are not designed for that. Plan 2 blank exposures at the end of the film as a safety buffer.

Detailed instructions for cutting and loading film can be found at moments-of-now.com.

Note

As with all Minox cassettes – including the originals – the following applies:

  • Always change film in dim light, never in direct sunlight. Minox also recommends this in the original manual.
  • Immediately place the cassette in the included storage case after removal.

Practical Test: Community Results

An experienced Minox photographer tested this cassette in a Minox A with ISO 200 film and had the results developed in a professional lab. Three points were checked:

  • Light-tightness: No problems in dim light (as recommended by Minox). With intentional extreme exposure (EV 15, direct midday sun), minimal light leakage appears at the film end – not relevant with correct handling.
  • Film transport: Even negative spacing, no increased resistance.
  • Scratches: No scratches on the developed film.

Note: Results may vary depending on camera condition, film type, and handling. We recommend always changing film in dim light.
