  • Replacement for the broken locking latch: The back cover latch of the Canon EOS often breaks due to age, and the original part is no longer manufactured. This replacement part makes the camera light-tight again.

  • Installs with a screwdriver: Unscrew the covers, fit the copper contacts onto the new hook, attach the spring to the pin (see video).

Description

On the analog Canon EOS series, the small latch hook of the back door breaks with age, and the camera can no longer be closed. With this spare part, you can get your EOS ready for use again. The linked video shows the installation step by step: unscrew the base plate, the front cover at the lens mount and the hinge cover, remove the broken hook, fit the copper contacts onto the new hook, attach the spring to the pin of the new hook and set the hook into its guide. The pin is a small screw and is already fitted in the hook. A small Phillips screwdriver is all the tooling you need, and tweezers help when attaching the spring. Since it is a small part, two pieces are included.

    Many thanks for producing a part which is now obsolete. Unfortunately when the defective part is removed from the camara, it is difficult to install. The metalic contact piece was not easy to seperate nor to reinstall on the new part. The 2 plastic studs are to big to clic it on, so I had to use Superglue. I hope the glue will hold for 27 years like the camara's orginal part, but I dought it. However, I fitted it and it works and I have a spare red one.RegardsJohn
