The base of your Canon A-1 and the rest of the A series has the connection for the winder, i.e. the Motor Drive. The matching protective cap often gets lost. This replacement screws into the thread in the same spot and covers the connections while no winder is attached. This keeps the electrical contacts and the mechanics protected from dust and dirt. Made in-house in Germany.
