Safety notes
Even when using this quick-load spool, the film leader must be trimmed narrow over a length of approx. 10 cm (known as the ABLON cut). An untrimmed film can damage the camera's cloth shutter. You can also find suitable templates in our shop.

Description
This film spool is the quick-load spool for the classic Barnack Leicas, the alternative when the original take-up spool is missing or can no longer be found. It replaces the original metal spool and brings an advantage when loading: you don't have to take it out of the camera to load film. The film is threaded into the spool directly inside the body. This saves time, also works on the go without a surface to put things down on, and reduces the risk of dropping the loose spool while handling it.
If you don't have a cutting template for the ABLON cut yet, go for the Spool + Trimmer variant, which comes with the template.

Excellent bit of kit that I didn't know I needed
I only have 1 working hand and loading film into my Barnack Leicas is always something I had to do sat down at a table, for fear of fumbling and dropping an expensive spool. This device allows me to load the camera by simply dropping the film cannister in one side and pressing the leader into the prongs. I loaded 2 films with the camera hung around my neck and no danger of dropping anything. You still need to trim the leader to be safe, but that can be done in advance.
This gadget has improved my Leica experience enormously -

For older cameras such as Leica I, II or III, the only way not to damage the camera is trim the film. So Ausgeknipst's trimmer (ablon) is an exllent solution for that. Also, their Spool is very convenient to load the film. In conclusion, I am satisfied with the quality and price of the products. Sehr nützliche weiterentwickelte Spule
Die Spule von ausgeknipst ermöglicht ein leichteres Filmeinlegen als die Originalspule, da die Spule in der Kamera verbleiben kann und der Film nur eingeschoben werden muss. Ein Muss für jede Schraubleica zumal die Originalspule oft nicht mehr vorhanden ist.
