  • Replacement for the banned PX625: The XF 35 was designed for 1.35V mercury cells, which are no longer available — zinc-air cells type 675 from the drugstore are the best available substitute.

Description

If you’re looking for a battery for the Rollei XF 35, you quickly encounter the voltage problem: the camera was originally designed for 1.35V mercury cells of type PX625. These are no longer available. Modern 1.5V alkaline cells are too high and often cause misexposures. Zinc-air batteries of type 675 from the drugstore deliver about 1.4V and thus come closest to the correct exposure measurement.

The only problem with these cells: they are significantly smaller than the original and slip around in the battery compartment. This battery compartment cover is designed exactly for that. It centers the 675 cell and creates the pressure the camera needs for a secure contact. Instead of expensive special adapters or DIY solutions with aluminum foil: just put the cover on, insert the battery, and shoot.
