Description

This developing reel holds 9.2 mm wide Minox 8x11 film, for example from the Minox B, C, BL, LX, EC or AX, and, depending on the version, fits the center column of Paterson (Super System 4), AP and Kaiser tanks or Jobo 1500 series tanks.

You'll hardly find a developing reel for 8x11 film anywhere else, because standard reels don't hold the narrow strip from your Minox. With this reel you develop 8x11 film in your existing daylight developing tank.

The reel slides onto the center axis of your tank, secures the film, and ensures even circulation of the chemicals. Its chemical-resistant construction withstands contact with developer and fixer. In addition to Paterson, AP, and Jobo (1500 series), the reel also fits the center axis of Kaiser tanks. Manufactured in-house in Germany.

Practical tip

Cut both corners at the start of the film at a 45-degree angle before loading the strip into the reel. This forms a point at the front that feeds in smoothly and doesn't catch. You turn the two flanges alternately against each other, as with the Paterson reels for 35mm and 120. This reel has no ball-bearing feed, though: guide the film along at the entry with your thumb, otherwise it slips back out as you turn. The reel must be completely dry while you do this. If the film catches, pull it back a little and start again. Practising the loading once in the light with a leftover strip makes it much easier in the dark.

    Am Wochende habe ich nun in meiner Jobo-Dose einen selbst konfektionierten 8x11 Film mit der "ausgeknipst"-Spirale entwickelt. Ich hatte das Einfädeln vorher geübt, was bei einer neuen Spirale auch empfehlenswert ist. Denn dann geht es im Dunklen doch leichter. Die Verarbeitung des Films war dann problemlos, ich hatte in meiner Minox-LX einen ADOX HR-50 drin den ich dann mit ADOX HR-DEV entwickelt habe. Anschliessend habe ich die Negative mit dem Minox-Adapter über mein Leuchtpult und mit meiner Digi-Kamera eingescannt. Wirklich schöne Ergebnisse mit dem speziellen analogen Look, siehe Fotos. Die ausgeknipst-Spirale funktioniert und ist auch sehr passgenau

    Bonjour, mon avis est mitigé car l'introduction du film dans la spire est compliqué (pas de système de bille comme sur les modèles plus grands). Du coup j'ai eu des problèmes de contact entre différentes parties du film, lors du développement, et des traces sombres importantes sur les images.
    J'ai pourtant une grande habitude de ce type de manoeuvres pour des films 135 ou 120.
    Mais peut être que ma technique d'introduction est mauvaise...

    Bonjour Robert, merci pour votre retour. Le format Minox 8x11 demande en effet un coup de main particulier pour éviter que le film ne sorte de sa rainure et ne se touche.

    Ce qui aide le plus : coupez les deux coins du début du film à 45 degrés pour former une pointe. La spirale se charge ensuite en tournant les flasques alternativement, sans pousser le film.
