How to find the right solution
What matters is how your camera draws power from the battery. Open the battery compartment and check:
- Contact at the top, bottom or side? → Take the Universal Adapter made from conductive plastic, works in almost all cameras
- Don't want to keep buying disposable cells? → Get the Varta V80H Set with USB-C charger (higher upfront cost)
- Contact at the top + bottom and in the mood for some DIY? → An O-ring 11 × 15 × 2 mm from the hardware store holds the 675 cell centred in the compartment. You'll find out how in the PX625 guide.
Important: All solutions on this page replace the banned PX625 / MR-9 / PX13 mercury batteries. Do not use 1.5V alkaline batteries (LR44/AG13). They distort the exposure metering.

Universal adapter (conductive plastic)
The safe choice for almost all cameras. The adapter is made of conductive plastic and works regardless of whether the contact is on top, bottom, or the side.
Our recommendation
Don't know what type of contact your camera has? Then choose this one. The conductive plastic conducts electricity across its entire surface, regardless of how your battery compartment is designed. Works in almost all cameras that use PX625 / MR-9 / PX13.

Who is this set for?
For anyone who regularly takes their analog camera on the go, and especially for anyone with several PX625 cameras: one charger is enough for all of them, and for each additional camera you only buy more rechargeable batteries. The V80H rechargeable battery delivers approx. 1.25–1.30V, slightly lower than 1.35V. This is not a problem with negative film (less than 1/3 stop, toward overexposure). It charges overnight via USB-C, and one charge lasts from a few weeks to about two months, depending on the camera.
Devices with two cells: Light meters such as the Gossen Luna-Pro or Lunasix 3 need two PX625. For these, there is the Pro Pack with two rechargeable batteries for €54.95 instead of €49.95 with one rechargeable battery. For a single, rarely used camera, zinc-air with the Universal Adapter remains the cheaper option.
