Description
The 3-pack of LR44 batteries (1.5 V) provides you with the standard button cell for analog cameras from Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, and many other manufacturers. Usually, two are stacked to supply the 3 V operating voltage for the light meter or electronic shutter – the third cell in the pack serves as a spare.
Honest technical classification:
These are alkaline batteries – the affordable and widely used standard solution. Unlike silver oxide cells (SR44), which maintain a constant voltage until the end, alkaline cells’ voltage gradually drops over their lifespan. For most cameras (like the Minolta X-series or Nikon FE), this isn’t an issue because the circuitry compensates for it. If you want maximum measurement consistency over years, go for SR44 – but LR44 is sufficient for everyday use.
Note on old mercury cells (PX675):
These batteries have the same dimensions as the old, banned PX675 mercury cells but a higher voltage (1.5 V instead of 1.35 V). If your camera strictly requires 1.35 V, LR44 will cause incorrect readings – in that case, we recommend zinc-air hearing aid batteries (type 675).
