Description
The 3-pack of LR44 batteries (1.5 V) provides the standard button cell for analog cameras from Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, and many other manufacturers. Most cameras require two cells stacked together to provide the 3 V operating voltage for the light meter or electronic shutter. You can carry the third cell from the pack as a spare.
Honest technical assessment:
These are alkaline batteries—the affordable and widely available standard solution. Unlike silver oxide cells (SR44), which maintain a constant voltage until the end, the voltage of alkaline cells gradually drops over their service life. This is not a problem for most cameras, such as the Minolta X series or Nikon FE, as their bridge circuits compensate for it. If you want maximum metering consistency over several years, choose SR44; for everyday use, LR44 is sufficient.
Note on old mercury cells (PX675):
These batteries have the same dimensions as the old, banned PX675 mercury cells, but a higher voltage (1.5 V instead of 1.35 V). If your camera specifically requires 1.35 V, the LR44 will cause incorrect metering. In that case, we recommend zinc-air hearing aid batteries (type 675).
