PX14 Battery Adapter (V14PX TR112 2MR9)

• Replacement for the banned mercury battery: The adapter takes two commercially available 675 zinc-air cells, replacing the no longer available PX14 (V14PX, 2MR9).
• Constant voltage for the light meter: Zinc-air cells provide a stable 2x 1.35 V = 2.7 V, just like the original PX14.
• Original shape of the old dual cell: The adapter brings the small button cells to the original dimensions of the PX14 (16.3 mm x 15.8 mm).

Description

The PX14 battery adapter replaces the discontinued PX14 mercury battery (also V14PX, EPX14, 2MR9 or H-2D) in cine cameras such as the Fujica Single-8 Z400, the Chinon 609 Power Zoom or the Nikon Nikkorex 8, and in light meters. It holds two type 675 zinc-air cells that together deliver a stable 2.7 V, and at 16.3 mm x 15.8 mm it has the dimensions of the original.

You can get the cells as 675 hearing aid batteries at drugstores. Their discharge curve is extremely stable at 1.35 V per cell, so your light meter will measure just like it did on day one.

The adapter needs two cells per load. The six included batteries therefore make three complete sets. The refill pack contains only the six batteries, no adapter.

Frequently asked questions

How many cells do I need for one load? Two zinc-air cells of type 675 produce the original's 2.7V. The package includes six cells, so three complete loads.

Does the adapter really replace the old 2MR9? Yes. At 16.3 x 15.8 mm it has the dimensions of the original and replaces the designations PX14, EPX14, V14PX, 2MR9 and H-2D.

How do I activate the zinc-air cells? Pull off the protective film and wait one to two minutes before inserting the cell. It needs oxygen to reach full voltage. Unopened, the cells last several years, so only pull off the film when you need them.
