Compatibility

Not tied to specific camera models: the adapter is glued on and only needs a flat surface on the top plate of the body, tested on our Leica M3. It accepts accessories with a standard mounting foot (cold shoe foot), including:

  • External light meters with mounting foot
  • Shoe-mount viewfinders
  • Spirit levels and other cold shoe accessories

Description

This cold shoe adapter adds a second accessory shoe to your camera, so you can use an external light meter and an external viewfinder at the same time. It is glued onto the camera body and provides two cold shoe mounts side by side, onto which you slide both devices. The spacing of approx. 32 mm keeps meter and viewfinder apart.

The cold shoe is passive and transmits nothing electrically, it serves purely as a mount. We tested the adapter on our Leica M3.

Note: The 3M adhesive tape holds strongly, but the mounted accessories should be light. Flash units or other accessories with a lot of leverage are not suitable for the glued adapter; it is intended for light shoe-mount accessories such as light meters, viewfinders or spirit levels.
