  • A stand-in for the rare ABLON template: a reproduction of the Leitz film trimming template, catalogue no. 14126 (made 1931–1964), for cutting the long leader on Barnack bottom-loaders. Just as useful as the original, without the collector’s price tag.
  • Accurately shaped leader: guides the blade precisely along the contour, so the leader ends up with exactly the right shape for your screw-mount camera’s transport mechanism.
  • Comes apart for cleaning: opens up so you can quickly clear out film shavings and scraps after cutting.

Compatibility

Fits all Leica LTM (Barnack) cameras and their copies, including:

  • Leica: I, II, III, IIIa, IIIb, IIIc, IIId, IIIf, IIIg
  • Fed: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
  • Zorki: 1, 2, 3, 4, 4K
  • Leotax: Original, Elite, T, F
  • Nicca: 3-S, 3-F, Type-5
  • Canon: early rangefinder models (LTM)

A note on the set version: the Quick Load spool only fits cameras up to the Leica IIIf, not the IIIg.

What's included

Description

The original Leica ABLON template (Leitz catalogue no. 14126) for trimming the long leader on your Barnack camera has become a rare and expensive collector’s item. This film trimmer is a functional reproduction, giving you a repeatable way to cut the long leader these bottom-loaders need for loading film into the transport mechanism.

Use a sharp, narrow blade (a scalpel, for example) and cut carefully along the guide so you don’t damage the plastic. Alternatively, you can use it purely as a marking template: trace the outline with a pen, take the template off and cut along the line with scissors. Before loading, make sure there are no film shavings clinging to the film; the template comes apart so you can clean them out.

  2. RolfVerified purchase

Nice tool. Does what it promises.

  3. Thorsten H.Verified

Sehr freundlicher Service und ein tolles Tool

Prompte Lieferung und gut gemachtes Tool

  4. Antje B.Verified

Preiswerter als das Original und genauso nützlich. Buchung unkompliziert, Lieferung schnell. Alles Top 👍

  5. Joachim S.Verified

    Leica II / III Filmschablone

Die Schablone erleichtert den Filmanschnitt ganz erheblich. Eventuell könnte ein Klappmechanismus das Handlivg erleichtern, der "vorgerollte" Film ist schon ein wenig widerspenstig.

  6. eques

Very good price when compared with the alternative, the Leica Ablon. Simplifies trimming of the film leader for use with Leica screw mount cameras.
