- Wobble-free construction: The profile is flush-mounted into the 20 mm multiplex board – CNC-milled, with four M6 threaded inserts – not just screwed on. It remains stable up to ~1.5 kg on the arm; from about 1.9 kg total load, the profile bends slightly. Not designed for heavy-duty setups with bellows, macro rails, and heavy ball heads.
- Designed for use with a tripod head: The camera mount has a 3/8" thread (professional standard, more robust than 1/4-20), compatible with all common ball heads and adapter plates.
- Assembly and disassembly without tools: Two Fast-Lock clamps secure the profile in seconds, then you can disassemble and store it under your desk.
- Large enough for all standard formats up to 4x5: 56 cm usable camera height is enough for 35 mm with any macro lens and 120 roll film up to ~100 mm focal length (details in the table). The 32×32 cm base plate is stable even with large negative holders.
- Part of a modular system: Can be combined with the Film Scanner Holder (negative holders for 35 mm, 120, 110, Minox) and light sources like the CineStill CS-LITE.
Compatibility

The film format you can scan depends on the lens focal length. Overview for full-frame sensors at 56 cm camera height:
| Film format | 50mm | 60mm | 90mm | 100mm |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 35mm | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| 120 / 6×4.5 | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| 120 / 6×6 | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| 120 / 6×7 | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ⚠️ |
| 120 / 6×9 | ✅ | ✅ | ⚠️ | ❌ |
| 4×5 | ✅ | ⚠️ | ❌ | ❌ |
✅ = Comfortably scannable | ⚠️ = Borderline | ❌ = Not fully reproducible. For APS-C, the scannable area decreases due to the crop factor.

Description
The Copy Stand is our repro stand for everyone who scans negatives and slides with a digital camera instead of a flatbed scanner. The heart of it is the base plate made of 20 mm multiplex board, the same material used in trade fair construction for load-bearing floors. The CNC recess and the four M6 threaded inserts hold the profile in position even under load, instead of just screwing it on. The profile itself is a standard Bosch profile – if you want to scan larger formats, you simply buy a taller profile.
The profile does not have a fixed camera mount but a 3/8" mount. The Copy Stand is designed for use with your own tripod head to maintain full control over fine adjustment and positioning.
The Copy Stand is the foundation of our film scanning system. Complement it with a negative holder from the Film Scanner Holder System and a light source for a complete scanning workflow.
If you’re unsure which combination fits your setup: The Film Scanner Finder gives you a recommendation after three questions. All components in layered view, clickable with direct shop links, are shown in the product range diagram. Guides and technical background about film scanning can be found in our blog overview.

Overall a nice piece of equipment. Easily portable .What can be improved?:
* The screw at the bottom of the aluminum profile connecting with the stand as such is pretty fiddly to work with. I don't use it.
* The screw connecting to the equipment is pretty hard to work with, especially as the connecting surface does not have any kind of good friction, making any attached equipment rotate easily.
* Also increase the height of the sliding connector so it does not easily get affected by the weight/momentum of the camera, meaning that it is hard to keep it level.
A simply built DIY repro-stand for semi-professional/hobby purposes, but lacking for professional work, the value for its price could be better,
For a simple Film Scanning setup where height is set once and not adjusted much, it gets the job done. Analogue Repro-work is a bit of a pain with this stand.
It is generally sturdy, but not smooth and precise enough to call it professional. Setting the height feels very clunky and unstable, tends to shake the construction, unbalancing fine-adjustments each time. Given that setting a specific height is the purpose of a copy stand, this is a minus in value.
Material quality is generally okay, but lacking in parts. The 3D-printed parts don't move well along the aluminum, and mounting a tripod head is always a pain due to the oversized 3d-printed top of the mounting screw.
While the relatively small base has the advantage of not taking up much space and still being stable, it doesn't provide enough working surface, depending on tripod-head/-plate used (SmallRig Ballhead in my setup). My Cinestill lightbox and essential film holder sit at the edge of the base. For repro-work I mostly have to extend the surface 'creatively'.
Came without any assembly instructions, had to guess my way through. For a DIY-Kit like this, the price should definitely be lower.
