Description

This battery compartment cover replaces the cover on the battery compartment of the Minolta XM Motor and the Minolta XK Motor, whose snap hooks give way over time and break off. Together with SilvergrainClassics, we recreated the part and reworked exactly this weak point in version V2.

With the help of materials scientists, we identified material creep as the main cause of the breakage. The V2 has a thicker design and is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, so it lasts longer than the original cover. Shorter springs take permanent pressure off the hooks, and the small protruding pin prevents you from inserting the cover the wrong way round.

Does the cover fit the XK Motor? Yes. It fits the Minolta XM Motor and the Minolta XK Motor.

What do 1x hook and 2x hook mean? With 1x hook you get one battery compartment cover, with the pair (2x hook) you get two.

Why do the original covers break? We identified material creep as the main cause. The V2 is therefore designed thicker, and shorter springs take the constant pressure off the hooks.

    It's been close to a month since the new version of the battery covers were delivered. I've been opening and closing the covers to replace the batteries. Fit is great without any contact issue or wobbliness. The raised profile of the clips to release the cover helps grip to ease removal. The new spring tension is great since you do not have to apply pressure to get it clipped in. So far so good. I have been using my XK Motors since then after been put aside for years due to broken battery covers. Thank you, Ausgeknipst.
