Battery adapter for Canon Scoopic 16, 16S

• Improved MK2 design: Since September 2026, with two specially developed circuit boards for better contact in the battery compartment and reliable operation without intermittent contacts while filming.
• Replacement for the original NiCd battery: Your original battery has usually reached the end of its service life, and replacements are hard to find. This adapter is the durable solution for your gray Canon Scoopic 16 (also known commercially as the 16S).
• Power supply with standard cells: Use commercially available AAA batteries or rechargeable batteries instead of expensive custom-made replacements or risky re-celling.
• Installs without modification: The adapter replaces the old battery insert without modifying your camera and is ready to use immediately.

Safety instructions

• Never mix different battery types (NiMH and alkaline) or different voltages!
• The rechargeable batteries must NEVER be charged using the original Canon camera charger. This can damage or destroy the adapter and the cells. Always use an external charger.

Description

This battery adapter replaces the often defective original 12 V NiCd battery pack of the gray Canon Scoopic 16 (also sold as Scoopic 16S) and holds eight AAA cells: 9.6 V with NiMH rechargeables, 12.0 V with alkaline batteries. It does not fit the Scoopic M, MN and MS, for which there is the S-12 adapter, or the DS-8.

The adapter slides into the battery compartment, and you run your 16mm camera on AAA cells available everywhere, without expensive cell replacement. Robustly built for use on set.

Frequently asked questions

Rechargeable or disposable batteries? Both work. We recommend eight Varta AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries with 1000 mAh, which give 9.6 V. With eight alkaline batteries it is 12.0 V.

Does the adapter fit my Scoopic MS? No. For the Scoopic M, MN and MS there is the S-12 adapter. This adapter is made for the grey body of the Scoopic 16 (16S).

Are the cells included? Not with the single battery adapter. The complete set contains two adapters, a 12-slot charger and 16 Varta AAA rechargeable batteries with 1000 mAh.
