Description
Your Pentax Spotmatic needs a battery with a constant 1.35 V, from the factory that was a mercury cell. These cells are no longer available to buy today, so this set mechanically adapts zinc-air hearing aid batteries of type P312 to the required format: a rubber centering ring holds the smaller cell in the battery compartment, under load it delivers a stable 1.35 V, exactly the voltage the light meter was built for. Also fits Fujica ST601 and ST701.
Electrically, the zinc-air cells are a direct replacement for the old types PX400, EPX400 and V400PX. The light meter works correctly without you needing to adjust the camera. The rubber ring makes the contact.
Note: Zinc-air batteries are activated by peeling off the seal. Wait about one minute before inserting them into the camera.
Frequently asked questions
Why not a normal 1.5V alkaline? Alkaline cells start at 1.5V and drop over their runtime. The Spotmatic's light meter is designed for a constant 1.35V and shows incorrect readings with alkaline.
How do I activate the zinc-air cells? Peel off the seal, wait about one minute, then insert into the camera.
What's included in the set? The "2x Adapter & Batteries" variant contains 2 rubber centering rings and 6 zinc-air batteries type P312. The refill pack contains 6 batteries without rings.
