Description
This hot shoe cover (Type 1) fits the removable Accessory Shoe 1 of the Olympus OM-1 and OM-1 MD. It does not fit the OM-1n, OM-2, OM-2n, OM-3 or OM-4, which use Type 2, 3 or 4 flash shoes.
When no flash is mounted, the center contact is exposed and oxidizes over time. The cover is slid into the shoe, protects the contact, and keeps your camera looking neat. Before buying, check that you really own an OM-1 (not an OM-1n): the flash shoes have different shapes.
Frequently asked questions
Does the cover fit the OM-1n, OM-2 or OM-4? No. These models use flash shoes of type 2, 3 or 4. The type 1 cover only fits into the Accessory Shoe 1 of the OM-1 and OM-1 MD.
Why do I need the cover? Without a flash, the center contact in the shoe is exposed and oxidizes. The cover protects it and prevents metal parts in your camera bag from bridging the contact.
