Safety instructions

Even when using this quick-load reel, the beginning of the film must be trimmed to a narrow shape over a length of approximately 10 cm (known as an ABLON cut). An untrimmed film can damage the camera's cloth shutter. Matching templates are also available in our shop.

Description

This film reel is the Quickload reel for classic Barnack Leicas—the alternative when the original take-up reel is missing or can no longer be found. It replaces the original metal reel and offers an advantage when loading film: it does not need to be removed from the camera to load the film. The film is engaged directly with the reel inside the camera body. This saves time, works even when you're on the go without a surface to set things on, and reduces the risk of dropping the loose reel while handling it.

If you don't yet have a cutting template for the ABLON cut, choose the Reel + Trimmer version, which includes the template.
