Most Nikon F lenses with prism have a rectangular eyepiece to which only a few accessories can be attached. This adapter changes the mounting method from a clip-on to a thread with Ø 18 mm.

This allows almost all accessories made up to 1982 (when the HP DE-3 was released) for Nikon eyepieces in standard size to be used.
