Most Nikon F lenses with a prism have a rectangular eyepiece to which only a little accessory can be attached. This adapter changes the attachment method from a clip-on to a threaded one with a diameter of 18 mm.
This allows almost all accessories that were manufactured for Nikon eyepieces in standard size until 1982 (when the HP DE-3 was released) to be used.
