Description
With this tool you wind your 35mm film into the original backing paper of an empty 120 roll. The finished film then loads into any medium format camera just like a normal 120 roll film, and because the backing paper runs along with it, the frame counter works as usual. You line everything up in daylight; only the final winding is done in the changing bag.
The result: 35mm film in a medium format body, exposed across the full height of the film gate, with the distinctive sprocket hole look and correct frame counting.

- Why not just load 35mm into the 120 camera? Without backing paper, the frame counter doesn't work and you have to guess the frame spacing. This tool restores correct frame counting.
- Which film length works best? 24 exposures are ideal. Films with 36 exposures may be too long.
- Do I get the sprocket hole look? Yes. The 35mm film is exposed across the full height of the 120 frame. The perforation holes are captured in the image as well.
- What else do I need? A used 120 backing paper, empty 120 spools, a changing bag or a darkroom, and non-permanent adhesive tape.
