Leica Barnack: film cutting template (ABLON)
Leica Barnack cameras (I, II, III and all variants) require a specially trimmed film leader. Without the correct contour, the film jams in the camera or will not thread. This template replaces the original Leica ABLON (No. 14126).
Why does the Barnack need a film trimmer?
Unlike modern cameras, a Leica Barnack does not let you simply slide the film in. The film leader has to be cut to a tapered shape so that it fits under the back and threads correctly onto the spool. Original Leica tools (ABLON) have not been produced for decades and cost a three-digit sum on the used market. The combo variant with Quick Load spool makes loading even faster.

110 Pocket film & subminiature format
110 film is not available in bulk. It has to be cut from 35mm or 120 roll film. This cutter produces 16mm wide strips, suitable for all 110 cameras from the Pentax Auto 110 to the Minolta 110 Zoom. The combo variant additionally cuts 9,2mm for Minox.
Which source format is right?
- 35mm (Basic): Splits the 35mm roll lengthwise into two 9,2mm strips. Yields four 36-exposure Minox films plus two shorter films per roll. Cheapest option.
- 35mm + Minox (combo): Cuts 110 and 9,2mm from a single film. Ideal if you shoot both formats.

Minox 8x11: film cutter 9,2mm
Minox cameras (B, C, BL, LX, EC and all 8x11 models) require 9.2mm wide film. Ready-made Minox cartridges are rare and expensive. With this cutter you can trim standard 35mm or 120 film to Minox width, in total darkness thanks to the safety lid.
Two source formats, one cutter
The Minox cutter has a modular design. The variant determines the source format. The cutting mechanism stays the same. 35mm is used most often: a 35mm roll is split lengthwise into two 9,2mm strips, yielding four 36-exposure Minox films plus two shorter films. The 120 variant is more economical at high throughput (six strips per roll).

35mm film cutter for film loaders
If you load 35mm bulk film into your own cartridges (with an AP, Legacypro or Watson film loader), you need a clean cut at the start of the film. This template creates the correct leader shape so the film threads into any film loader and any 35mm camera.
Loading your own film saves money
Bulk film (30m rolls) costs a fraction per exposure compared to ready-made cartridges. A 36-exposure film from a 30m roll of Fomapan 100 comes to approx. 2-3 EUR in material costs instead of 6-8 EUR for a ready-made cartridge. The cutting template makes sure the start of the film sits cleanly, with no creasing and no tangling.
