Description

The original Leica ABLON template (Leitz catalog no. 14126) for cutting the long film leader for your Barnack camera is now a rare and expensive collector’s item. This film cutter is a functional replica—a repeatable solution for cutting the long film leader these bottom-loaders need for loading film into the transport mechanism.

Use a sharp, narrow blade, such as a scalpel, and carefully cut along the guide to avoid damaging the plastic. Alternatively, use it purely as a marking template: Mark the contour with a pen, remove the template, and cut along the marking with scissors. Before loading the film, make sure no film shavings are clinging to the material. The template can be disassembled for removal.
