Description

The right battery for your Canon AE-1, AE-1 Program, or A-1: This adapter lets you operate it with four standard LR44 or SR44 button cells instead of a single 4LR44 (PX28). It sits in the battery compartment and supplies the 6V the camera expects. This means you're no longer dependent on the hard-to-find specialty battery — and you can even get a camera running again if it was taken out of service due to a lack of a suitable battery.

Installation note

On some Canon AE-1 Program cameras, the spring-loaded pin in the bottom of the battery compartment slips into the opening of the adapter's eyelet instead of pressing against a battery contact. In that case, the camera receives no power. Turn the cells in the adapter around 180° and insert the adapter rotated 180° as well. The polarity remains the same, but the pin then makes direct contact with a battery contact. This allows the adapter to remain installed permanently.

Frequently asked questions

Does the adapter also fit other Canon models? It replaces the 4LR44 or PX28 in terms of dimensions and fits anywhere this cell is used. The AE-1 and A-1 have been tested. If you're unsure, send us your model.

Why use four individual cells instead of one 4LR44? Because you can find the four LR44 cells everywhere and replace them at a significantly lower cost than the block battery. Four 1.5V cells provide the same 6V as the original.

Can I use SR44 instead of LR44? Yes. SR44 cells are made of silver oxide, maintain a more stable voltage, and last longer. They cost a little more, but have the same dimensions and fit the same adapter.
