Without a battery: the shutter and film advance are mechanical; the light meter needs the battery. [1]

On T, pressing the shutter release opens the shutter; to close it, press the separate T button. [1]

If you won’t be using the camera for a while, remove the battery and store it with the shutter uncocked. [1]
