Why a separate base and top for sprocket scans?
This is basically the same scanner as our regular 35mm system (1653b), but specially optimized for users who want to scan the film including the perforation (sprocket holes).
Some systems use just a separate top on a standard base for sprocket scans. However, this means the film is only guided at the edges during normal 35mm scans (without perforation) and does not lie as flat as when guided across the entire perforation width.
To guarantee maximum flatness and sharpness in every scenario, we therefore use this dedicated set with separate base and top for edge scans with visible perforation. The rest of the system is identical to our 1653b.
  • Film curls, edges blurry? Our dual S-curve keeps the film strip flat across the entire width – sharpness to the corners, without glass plates, without Newton rings.
  • Don’t want to fiddle around? Lift the Top Plate, insert the film, snap it in magnetically. Done. Even short film snippets and single frames fit without threading.
  • Stray light ruining your scans? Our 5-layer system with adapter plate (bottom) and lens hood (top) (included in Pro and Full sets) seals perfectly. No side light, no loss of contrast.
  • Worried about scratches? The precision-made film channel guides the film through the image area without contact. Rubber feet (2mm, Shore 70A) prevent slipping and protect your light source from scratches.
  • Half frame, standard or panorama? Standard 24×36mm in the Basic – and expandable with magnetic Top Plates to Half Frame (18×24mm), Panorama X-Pan (24×82mm) and more.

Description:

The Ausgeknipst Film Scanner Set 35mm is a modular 5-layer system for digitizing 35mm small format negatives with a DSLR or mirrorless camera. The Carrier Base Plate guides the film through a precision-milled channel with a dual S-curve—for even film flatness without glass plates. The magnetic Top Plate can be removed with one hand: insert film, snap in place, scan. Short film strips and single frames fit without threading. Integrated rubber feet (2mm, Shore 70A) ensure a secure stand on any light source without slipping or scratching.

The system grows with your workflow: from the basic entry with a Top Plate to the Pro set with CineStill CS-LITE light source, adapter plate, and lens hood, up to the complete scanning station with Copy Stand MK2. Additional Top Plates for Half Frame and Panorama X-Pan are available separately. This makes the system future-proof – no matter which film formats your analog journey may take you to.
