This is a mercury-free replacement for the once-popular mercury oxide battery cell PX25 (or V25PX), which was commonly used in cameras. Mercury-containing cells like the PX25 are now banned due to their toxicity and environmental concerns. The alkaline A25PX cells produce 4.5 volts, which is higher than the 4.05 V produced by the original mercury PX25 cell. Most devices can handle the slightly higher voltage and work perfectly. The PX25 was used in cameras like the Kodak Instamatic 333X electronic, which required two batteries. The A25PX is an ideal replacement. The alkaline battery A25PX was also used in the Kiev 60 camera.
