We found the film scanners available on the market too bulky, complex, and especially too expensive. So our designer Lars quickly developed this minimalist film holder for scanning or digitizing standard 35mm (135) small format negatives. 

The part consists of 3 pieces:

1. Baseplate
2. Topplate
3. Household rubber bands  

The function is quite simple:

  1. Place topplate on baseplate
  2. Fix with rubber bands
  3. Press the two parts apart at the small side notches
  4. Insert film
  5. Place on a suitable light source (we use a battery-powered LED light panel with a good CRI rating ourselves)
  6. Clamp DSLR, mirrorless, or smartphone on a tripod
  7. Scanning
  8. Done!
