This PX32 adapter is a mercury-free replacement for the once popular mercury oxide battery PX32 or E164, which was commonly used in cameras such as the Yashicas (Electro 35GL, Electro GSN, Electro GTN, Electro AX, MG-1). A standard and readily available 4LR44 battery is adapted.
Mercury-containing batteries like the PX32 are now banned due to their toxicity and environmental concerns. The adapter generates 6.0 volts together with the 4LR44 battery, which is higher than the 5.6 V produced by the original mercury cell. Most devices can handle the slightly higher voltage and work perfectly.
