The flat board is the standard choice for 50mm lenses when enlarging 35mm film. It ensures the correct distance to the film plane and allows for razor-sharp projection.

The recessed board (-13mm) is needed for wide-angle lenses (typically under 50mm). It moves the lens closer to the film plane, making focusing possible, which would not succeed with a flat board at these short focal lengths.

Both boards have a diameter of 69mm and are precisely made for models like the Meopta Axomat.
