Every Minolta XK Motor and XM Motor user knows the problem: the snap hooks of the battery compartment cover eventually break off sooner or later. In cooperation with SilvergrainClassics, we have therefore not only reproduced the original part but significantly improved it.

A note on our improved version 2 (from July 2025):

A big thank you to all our early customers! Your feedback on the first version was crucial. We learned that the snap hooks could still occasionally break even with our V1. We take this very seriously. In collaboration with a materials scientist, we found the cause: "material creep." Therefore, for V2 we switched the material to carbon fiber reinforced PETG. This is significantly more robust and durable, as initial tests have already confirmed. Additionally, V2 uses shorter springs that exert less pressure on the hooks. The result is a replacement part that is now truly superior to the original. Customers who have already purchased V1 from us will of course receive V2 free of charge.

Revived my XK Motors

It's been close to a month since the new version of the battery covers were delivered. I've been opening and closing the covers to replace the batteries. Fit is great without any contact issue or wobbliness. The raised profile of the clips to release the cover helps grip to ease removal. The new spring tension is great since you do not have to apply pressure to get it clipped in. So far so good. I have been using my XK Motors since then after been put aside for years due to broken battery covers. Thank you, Ausgeknipst.

A Minolta XK Motor Miracle

Finally a fantastic solution for those of use that have had a Minolta XK Motor sitting on the shelf going unused due to missing or broken battery caps. After a recent thorough CLA and these new battery caps, I now have a 49 year old brand new camera with the sweet sound of a working motor drive. Thank you, Ausgeknipst.
